Tips for installation

This is probably the most contentious part of this site, ask 3 different installers and you will get three different answers, our take on fitting is that there are 4 main methods;

  1. Fit a timber subframe and make your new windows to a size which allows for this, the subframe would not be visible after completion of the installation of your facings/ window boards or architraves.

  2. Use a “Foam”, this is freely available at all diy stores and although it is initially unsightly it does give a truly solid fix for the doors or windows, trim any excess away when it has set, again it is not visible upon completion of the installation of your facings/ window boards or architraves.

  3. Use the steel fixing brackets that we have supplied, these brackets interlock in the profile at the side of the window, they are not visible upon completion of the installation of your facings/ window boards or architraves.

  4. Use a combination of all 3 of these suggestions.

  5. We supply a selection of fixing brackets to aid with the installation process.

  6. Some of our larger windows may be supplied with the "dead pane" glass delivered loose to allow for site fixing and for transportation, the glass is easily installed again by you on site, all our windows and doors achieve an indicative U-value of 1.6W/m2K.

Please also refer to our tips on measuring, there is some good advice on how to adjust your doors and windows upon completion of the installation.
